One Man's Treasure

An early morning rush of cars
Rapid fingers grasp all over the place
Then off to the next
Littered lawn they race

A quiet stranger peruses
Those passed over, left over and tossed
He purchases all
Paying more than their marked down cost

A tarnished ring
A tattered rug
A faded painting
A broken jug

He remembers watching his father
Handcraft these items, now marred
Rejoicing that he found them
He makes his way from the yard

Upon returning to his father
They together commence restoration
Loving hands bring new life
Their work, acclamation.
