The Third Day

Weather Report from Underground
It was one of those belligerent days again today.
Soil quality: Firm.  Outlook: Natural glass.
Until then, I’m a little fonder.

Boxes
I pull at  :  muscles you rehearse
plays the part  :  my abdomen

This is what I’ve learned from corners:
there aren’t so many of them

and how they’re thin, like blue cerulean.
And how the lines,
they’re thirsty, honest
drinking in.

Sky
You repeat in me, like I repeat in You—
beginning here, with this pair of eyes.

Eyes? you ask.  Why yes, like mine:
wide like the myth
blue clay livid
deep like the pool

The Sea that changes.

And there was evening, and there was morning—a third day.
Genesis 1:13
