Upon the Birth of Manasseh
"Joseph named his firstborn Manasseh and said, 'It is because God has made me forget all my trouble and all my father's household.'" Genesis 41:51 NIV
Manasseh, my son,
born fresh from the fathoms of my yesterdays,
you are sweet forgetfulness,
gift of God.
You are new flesh from the house of my father,
where night's bitter memory
fades into soothing dawn,
and roaring wrath lies blameless
with the gentle lamb of peace.
Manasseh, my son,
born into the fullness of forgetfulness,
remember with each whisper of your name,
our God restores.
Yes,
I AM restores.
Fear not, son of forgotten grief,
for all that may seem lost
shall yet be found.
